Audio-Visual Stimulation Using Light & Sound Technology
Just as you exercise to keep your body’s systems in peak condition, you can use AVS to keep your brain’s systems in peak condition, too. You can achieve results in as little as 20 minutes a day. And best of all, the experience is pleasing and satisfying!

Since ancient times man has observed that flickering lights and rhythmic sounds can produce a relaxed or an alert state of mind. Around 200 A.D. the astronomer Ptolemy had people face the sun with a spinning wheel in front of them. With their eyes closed the spokes cast alternating bright light and shadow on their eyelids. Along with this visual flicker, the person experienced patterns and colors and feelings of contentment. You, too, can select your experience by using AVS to relax, learn, energize. This phenomenon makes AVS an ideal tool for Stress, Pain, ADHD, and many other disorders.

How AVS Works
Modern scientific research has verified this phenomenon: brain activity becomes more active or more quiet in response to external rhythms of light and sound. In our modern world, common sources of visual flicker are rotating ceiling fans and fluorescent lights. Additionally, you knowingly respond to different musical rhythms.  You tap your feet to peppy music and you feel soothed by slow melodies.

That your brain responds to these rhythms is known as the frequency following effect. Slower rhythms bring about relaxation. Faster rhythms bring about alertness.

The ability of light and sound to improve learning new information is well known, too. Many people use AVS sessions to support their professional, educational or personal development. In short, use The Gadget to reach your ideal state of mind for any activity you wish to pursue. However, an at-home AVS unit can still be complicated because it's sophisticated technology. That’s why it’s important for people who invest in one to come in to a professional biofeedback clinic, such as Smarter Way, to have the programs calibrated to their individual needs.

The beneficial effects that AVS provides have been clinically tested and verified for over 30 years. Many physicians, mental health professionals, and educators routinely use AVS with their clients.
